Just the two McFly in to town

23/ 9/2008

A more sedate crowd of McFly fans were in HMV to meet one half of their favourite popsters yesterday.

Just two months after they caused mass hysteria at Woolworths in Broad Street, Tom and Dougie ‘McFlew’ in to Reading again to promote their fourth album Radio:Active.

Hundreds of screaming fans came to the signing in July, but a more cool and calm crowd of no more than 200 youngsters came to HMV in The Oracle yesterday, despite the fact that there were 750 places in the queue up for grabs.

But uber-fans Amy Helbert, 16, from Southcote, and Katie Ferns, 16, from Central Reading, did not care how many other people were in the queue as the lucky girls were winners of 2tenfm’s McFly competition, giving them the chance to meet the boys first and spend longer up close and personal with them.

Harry and Danny – the other half of the band – were at HMV in Liverpool at the same time doing a similar signing.

Danny fan Amy said: “I’m not disappointed it’s just Tom and Dougie here. At least I get to see them.”

Speaking exclusively to the Evening Post, Dougie said he never tires of meeting the fans. He said: “It’s always good to meet them. You get to recognise a few familiar faces.”
