Stay safe and enjoy yourself

21/ 8/2008

Festival-goers are being urged to stay safe and have a good weekend by Thames Valley Police.

Chief Inspector Shaun Virtue, one of two senior police commanders at the festival, said: “My plea to people coming to the festival is very simple.

“Have a good time and enjoy yourselves, but use your common sense and don’t bring valuables like MP3 players – there will be enough going on to keep you entertained without them.

“The festival is usually a peaceful and well organised event, but we see the same issues every year with people having valuables stolen from their tents.”

The police advise:

- Not to leave valuables in your car

- Pitch your tent in a shared area with friends

- Get advice from festival supervisors (there is one in every camping zone)

If anyone would like any advice on what they should bring to the festival or on personal security they can email readingfestival@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk and they will receive a reply from a member of the policing operation team.
