What’s black and white?

23/ 3/2007

Black and White’s latest monthly music showcase at the Walkabout sees White Sunday, The Electric City and the Blardy Blars form an impressive local alliance.

The recent Reading innovation takes place on the first Thursday of every month and has been a big hit among local fans during its opening exchanges.

The next round, on Thursday April 5, sees Reading’s stomping rock’n’rollers White Sunday headline.

Having recently completed a mini-tour of some top-notch venues, their forthcoming debut album is currently being sculpted by legendary producers Dave Allen (The Cure, The Charlatans and Mark Ralph (The Others).

The Electric City come to Reading after Black & White promoters saw them in London’s packed-out Camden Barfly in January.

Already boasting support slots for the likes of We

Are Scientists, The Futureheads and Patrick Wolf, the band are also set to support The Who at the Royal Albert Hall on the last night of a series of high-profile Teenage Cancer Trust gigs, just five days prior to their Walkabout appearance.

The band are clearly on the verge of big things in their own right and the Walkabout’s latest signing could prove something of a coup.

A band where the raw energy of rock meets the euphoria of the dancefloor, The Electric City are four friends with blistering basslines behind the synth rock of Muse.

Completing next week’s line-up are Blardy Blars, a Reading band with catchy tunes and plenty of attitude.

Formed in 2005 and with a few line-up changes along the way.

Blardy Blars boast a youthful and exciting sound and are starting to boast bigger gigs and bigger venues.

Doors open at 7.30pm, bands from 8.30pm–11pm.

Tickets priced £4 on the door or £3 with a flyer.
