Soundtracks: Sundara Karma in my studio
May 24, 2012
I had the band Sundara Karma in my studio on Sunday. They are 16, mostly from the Oratory School in Woodcote, and are amazing.
Influenced by the 60s, from Pink Floyd and The Doors to the Beach Boys and Led Zeppelin, their sound is yet fresh, crisp and bang on.
They’re playing the Jubilee festival at Prospect Park in Reading on Saturday, June 2, so if you’re heading that way, check ’em out!
Ascot alt pop singer Jack Robert Hardman has his excellent self-titled debut album just out and is releasing second single Lights Of London on Monday, June 11.
Packed full of pulsating rhythms and intricate melody lines, Lights of London tells the tale of a relentless desire to reach the bright lights of the big city.
Since releasing debut single Famous, Jack’s quirky pop has attracted great excitement and interest from music scene luminaries such as the BBC’s Huw Stephens and Tom Robinson as well as John Kennedy from XFM. Oh, and I’m a fan too!
His videos are a must-see, so check out www.jackroberthardman.co.uk
Just a quick note that former Squeeze frontman Glenn Tilbrook is playing the Arlington Arts Centre in Newbury tonight.
It’s a great opportunity to catch the singer in a more intimate setting.
With his writing partner Chris Difford, Tilbrook was responsible for global top 10 hits such as Tempted, Hourglass, Cool For Cats and Up The Junction.
Tickets, priced £17.50, are available from the box office on 01635 244246 or online via www.arlingtonarts.co.uk
