Band's new album launch goes like Clockwork

December 15, 2010

A thrasing night was had by music lovers who rock and rolled the night away when a Wokingham band launched its new album.

Scores of teenagers from across the borough and beyond packed out Wokingham Youth Centre in Reading Road on Saturday, November 27, to see Clockwork perform tracks from their new EP, The Veil.

The five piece from Wokingham, who were finalists at this year’s Battle of the Bands competition, were joined at the launch by musical friends from the local up-and-coming scene.

The night of live music included performances from Reading band Rise Above, Basingstoke’s Blood of the Spectre and Attention Thieves, whose members hail from Wokingham and neighbouring Bracknell.

Another Bracknell band, Kraken, whose metal/hardcore sounds brought them triumph at this year’s Battle of the Bands event, then took to the stage before the night’s headline act was introduced.

Clockwork brought the curtain down on a successful night of sound by performing all six tracks from the new EP and one from their back catalogue.

Lead singer Edd Kerton said: “The production quality [on The Veil] is excellent and is Clockwork trademark sound.

“The EP was recorded at Outhouse Studios in Reading, a highly reputable recording studio. Many big bands have performed there.”

The band introduced their new guitarist Sam Meachin at the event.

He replaced previous six-stringer Jack Pamely, who was playing his last gig with the band before going off to study at university.

Copies of The Veil, along with merchandise such as band T-shirts, were also on sale at the event.

Tracks can be downloaded from iTunes, priced at 79p per song or £3.49 for the EP.
