Broad Street Tavern, WokinghamBy Victoria Corbett

The Broad Street Tavern offers a beer garden that is the perfect haven during hot summer days.
With Government officials preparing emergency plans in case of a scorching heat wave, perhaps it is also good to plan ahead on how to enjoy the summer months.
Landlord Clive Wallis is reporting customers are already heading straight for the great outdoors behind the Tavern to soak up what few rays the British weather has.
The Tavern aims to please all diners at all times of day, with nibbles and sandwiches to satisfy lunchtime hunger and people looking for a snack and hearty main meals to enjoy for dinner.
The nibbles menu includes calamari, chips, onion rings, stuffed jalapenos and crispy chicken fillets.
On the main courses list is a mixed grill for those with a healthy appetite and salmon and spinach dish for those watching their waistlines.
Other dishes include burgers and fish and chips. The pub takes advantage of its favourable outdoors area by holding barbecues during the summer, which make it quite the social hub.
Clive is getting ready for a new menu to be launched in two weeks, which he promises will introduce some exciting new flavours to the Tavern.
He is looking to introduce the hanger steak to Wokingham, which Clive says is a hit in America.
This cut comes from below the diaphragm of the cow and is said to be very tasty.
