Time to go animal crackers
27/ 4/2004
May Day! May Day! The kids are off school on Monday, but don’t panic!
Thankfully, there’s plenty going on to keep the whole family amused on Bank Holiday Monday.
Wellington Country Park at Risely is hosting an Animal Fun Day which is a great day out for humans and animals alike.
You can even bring your own dog with you and enter it in one of the fantastic fun dog races.
Visitors can shake paws with the Dulux dog, watch a demonstration of sheep shearing and have a flutter on the ferret racing.
There will also be an opportunity to get up-close and personal with a variety of reptiles including snakes as Reptiles ‘R’ Us will be on hand with a jungle experience to remember.
All the usual park attractions will be open at Wellington, including crazy golf, the beautiful boating lake and animal farm.
Pack yourself a picnic and stay for the day – the fun starts at 10.30am and goes on right through until 5.30pm.
The Reading branch of the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) is hosting a May Day Tea Party on Monday.
This popular annual event has proved to be a great day out for families, and this year the party is at the Mapledurham Pavilion.
The fun starts at 2pm and runs through the afternoon until 5pm.
This year’s party is bigger and better than ever with more games and stalls than ever before, together with a children’s entertainer, bouncy castle, face-painting and a whole load more.
You don’t need to be a member of the NCT as everyone is welcome.
A family ticket can be used for up to six people and costs just £3 which includes a drink and a cake for everyone, and includes free entry for children into the colouring competition.
For further information or to donate prizes for the games, please contact the NCT’s Nickie Sutton on (0118) 947 5496.
