Nicholas Hoult faces a giant problem in his new film
By Caroline CookMarch 21, 2013
He's been a zombie, a furry blue beast and a troubled teen and now Nicholas Hoult is adding another string to his bow – giant slayer.
The Wokingham actor plays fighting farmhand Jack in new blockbuster Jack The Giant Slayer, which is set for release this week.
When Jack unwittingly opens a door between planet Earth and a fearsome race of giants, he is faced with an epic battle to save his home.
Of course, he also has to rescue the damsel in distress, Princess Isabelle (played by Eleanor Tomlinson), who is captured by the giants.
Jack the Giant Slayer, which is a reworking of the classic fairytale involving a beanstalk, opened in America on March 1, to mixed reviews from critics.
The film took $28 million in its opening weekend, but lost out to another fairytale movie, Oz The Great and Powerful, which made $80.3 million the following week.
The Warner Brothers film also stars Ewan McGregor, Bill Nighy and Stanley Tucci, and is directed by Bryan Singer, the man behind The Usual Suspects and Superman Returns.
It’s been a busy few months for Nicholas as he recently starred in zombie flick Warm Bodies and has been filming in Africa for action movie Mad Max. He will soon reprise the role of Beast in X-Men: Days of Future Past, set for release in 2014.
Jack the Giant Slayer is due for release on Friday, March 22.
