Russell Brand: From Addiction to Recovery
Like last week, there's not much on in terms of new, exciting TV on Fridays.
So, I've gone for this excellent documentary presented by Russell Brand, detailing his 11-year-struggle with heroin addiction and his argument for absitenence-based treatment rather than reliance on heroin subsitute methadone.
in his uniquely charismatic style, the long-haired comedian meets users on the road to recovery, looks at alternative therapies and meets the policy makers in charge of treating drug users.
I watched this last year, captivated by Brand's intelligent questions and reasoned argument.
There's a brilliant moment where he completely takes a doctor's argument to pieces, causing a rather embarassing temper loss.
It's a very interesting, well-made and brilliantly presented documentary, giving us an insight into a world we all hope very much we, or our loved ones, never have to enter.
