Tonight's TV Choice: Stephen Fry: Gadget Man

By Hugh Fort
November 19, 2012

Stephen Fry seems to be having a fierce battle with Heston Blumenthal to see who can be on the TV most.

His latest effort seems to be an attempt to throw off the fuddy-duddy old Etonian tag by telling us all of his love for gadgets.

In fact, he's a bit of an expert and loves any gizmo that could make the human races' lives just that little bit easier.

In this series he tests out the latest innovations such as an in-car espresso machine (how can it be we're not allowed to drive talking on the phone but we can make coffee?), and makes his mate Jonathan Ross wear a pair of electronic roller-skates.

As well as testing actual inventions, he uses his impressive intellect to devise the perfect commuting vehicle as he looks at our daily commute and how it can be made more bearable.

Perhaps he'll look at a packed train to London and solve the problem of why there are three first-class carriages containing a total of seven people and 8,000 people all crammed in the aisles.

We can only hope.
