The Reading beauty who dazzled her way to the final four in the televised search for Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model has her sights set on London.
Anastasija Bogatirjova came here from Latvia two years ago and was a Reading college student, but the bright lights are beckoning after her taste of reality show fame.
The 20-year-old's elimination from the Sky Living show was aired on Monday, September 19. Viewers saw her leave glitzy Miami with Imogen Leaver, from Southampton, both just one step away from the crown.
But filming of the 13-episode seventh series finished in April - and since then, Anastasija has had chance to reflect and decide her future really should be on the catwalk.
Anastasija told getreading: “It has been amazing watching the series, because I had no idea what the judges or the other girls said about me. It was actually such a long time ago! I came back and went back to work at the Zerodegrees restaurant, and then quit my job and went to Latvia for a holiday, which was lovely. Now I am trying to get onto a [modelling] agency and am thinking of moving to London.”
The stunning blonde has some jobs lined up – including the Henley Fashion Show On Saturday, October 22 – while she waits to see if the capital’s streets will be paved with glamorous gold for her.
Last Monday, Next Top Model fans saw striking Jade Thompson, from Manchester, take the title and wealth of prizes, including a contract and a Jamaican holiday. Top judge Elle ‘The Body’ Macpherson described Jade as having “a unique, modern kind of beauty”.
Anastasija said she had wanted the other finalist, the more experienced Juste Juozapaityte, to triumph. But she enjoyed watching the final runway dual and it brought back memories of her own departure.
“The emotions took over before the elimination. When we were told two girls were going to go home, it was so sad – there were so many people you worked with, the production staff are amazing people,” she said.
Anastasija went through a long journey to get to the final four. She was one of 90 hopefuls to be picked from auditions in six cities. She survived boot camp and emerged as one of just 13, who moved into the luxurious Top Model house when the real beauty battle commenced.
Although she didn’t win the final crown, Anastasija has come away with happy memories of the challenges she faced, and being part of Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model has made her determined to succeed in the cutthroat world of the body beautiful.
