Starmaker support for Danyl Johnson

By Anna Roberts
October 09, 2009

Danyl Johnson has the X Factor. That was the verdict from pupils and staff at Southcote-based stage school Starmaker, where the singing hopeful works as a teacher.

Pupils at the school, which meets in Blessed Hugh Faringdon secondary, took time out from performing Boogie Nights to wish inspiration  Danyl good luck.

Danyl, from Arborfield, will tomorrow night perform for the first time in a live show. He was picked by Simon Cowell to form one of his final three ‘over 25s’.

The 27-year-old is currently one of the hot favourites to win the X Factor and follow in the footsteps of Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke and – less memorably – Steve Brookstein.

getreading and our sister paper the Reading Post have launched Dial for Danyl – a campaign to ensure the hunk wins.

It has the support of Starmaker which has issued a series of video messages to Danyl.

One pupil, Keri said: “Good luck DJ. We are all rooting for you.”

Another pupil Jonny said: “Well done Danny on getting to the final 12. Do your best and good luck.”

Ben and John said: “You can go all the way and we will support you all the way.”

The cast of Starmaker's latest show Boogie Nights  – crossing their arms – said: “You’ve got the X Factor.”

Choreographer Sammy admitted: “I wish I could be there with you. We love you.”

Chairman Dave Savage said: “Hi mate. You know how much we are all rooting for you. Give it some welly.

“And listen to Simon Cowell – he knows a little bit about what he is doing.”

Starmaker is always looking for new talent – particularly boys – to join the company.

After Boogie Nights, Starmaker will be starting to work on Fame – The Musical.

Auditions for those aged 14 and over take place on Sunday, October 18, and there is a mandatory pre-audition workshop on Wednesday, October 14.

If you are interested in coming along, call Michelle Palin on 07976 737 587.

Auditions for anyone under 14 will take place later in the year.

There are normal people out there who aren't entertained by rubbish reality television you know.

Presumably a worthwhile story that will run and run for Get Reading (especially on this site) is one that has been read and even better, often commented upon - both of which you have carried out today and the last time Hugh and I would therefore submit,m'lud, that you are the main perpetrator of keeping it as a news item ;-)

God this is getting so boring already... Are there not any real news stories out there? It's getting difficult to tell where GetReading ends and Daniel Johnson Begins.
