The West Reading-born star is up for best actress against Angelina Jolie, Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Melissa Leo.

The Reader has also been nominated in the best picture category and best adapted screenplay category.

Director of The Reader Stephen Daldry is up for best director.

Earlier this month Kate Winslet won two Golden Globes for her roles in The Reader and Revolutionary Road. She has also been awarded Bafta nominations - going up against herself in the best actress category.

As one who has been a HUGE fan of Kate ever since seeing her in "Heavenly Creatures," and ever since she was snubbed at the Oscars for her role in "Titanic," I've been rooting for her all the way. She actually inspired my interest in learning more about Reading. Given that she won the Golden Globe for "The Reader," I am confident this will finally be the year she takes Oscar home with her:)
