Bracknell ready for big Christmas lights switch on on Sunday

Santa is arriving in Bracknell this weekend to kick-start an extravaganza of festive fun which peaks when X Factor finalist Amelia Lily switches on the lights.

A parade will work its way through the town centre from 10.30am on Saturday before Santa opens his grotto in Bentalls at 11am.

Then at 11am a series of live performances will start in Charles Square, started by Bracknell’s Glee Club UK,.

At midday, R&B group 3RA will be performing.

The group, from Bracknell, said: “We feel honoured to take part in the festive celebrations, especially in our hometown.

“We’ve got plenty of surprises lined up so we hope everyone enjoys it.”

Also on stage, throughout the day, Artemis Performing Arts School will showcasing its award winning dance routines.

Bracknell’s Got Talent winner Joe Emmet will be entertaining the crowds at 3pm and School of the Arts will be closing the first day of festivities.

Young children will be in for a treat on Sunday when the ZingZillas put on three high energy shows in Charles Square at 11am, midday and 1pm, before heading to Princess Square at 2pm to have photos taken with their fans.

Memories of Christmas lights past

Artemis Performing Arts School will be back on the final day to keep the audience entertained before Amelia Lily turns on the Christmas lights at 4.30pm in Princess Square.

Amelia will be performing at 5pm before switching on the lights in Charles Square 5.20pm before a huge firework display.
