Shetland pony show back after 30 years

May 23, 2012

The Shetland Show & Highland Fair is returning after a 30-year absence to raise funds for the Sue Ryder Hospice at Nettlebed.

It will be held on Sunday, May 27, at the hospice, with former Grand National winning jockey Bob Champion among the guests.

The Dagenham Girl Pipers will also be appearing, with other attractions including live music, dog agility classes, highland dancers and craft stalls.

The show is being jointly organised by childhood friends Sarah Buckner and Charlotte Snowden.

Sarah’s mother Marlene Simpson started the show in 1980.

Now Sarah and Charlotte, whose older sister Sophie died at the hospice in 1995, are bringing back the show to raise money for it.

The show will run from 9am to 5pm.

The kids love ponies and riding, but never ridden Shetlands! Might be a nice way to spend a couple of hours on Sunday tho . . . and for a good cause too.
