Explore Roman times at Silchester open day

July 30, 2010

Families are invited to explore the Roman ruins in Silchester on Saturday.

A special open day is being organised by The University of Reading so that everyone can see what’s going on at the dig.

The day will include expert tours, talks, and demonstrations, and a range of children’s activities including tours, a mini-excavation, the opportunity to dress up and handle some of the unique finds.

The Department of Archaeology at The University of Reading excavates part of the site for six weeks each summer and visitors are welcome to visit throughout the dig.

Apart from Fridays, it is open daily between 10am and 4.30pm.
