Walk The Ridgeway for the Royal British Legion

March 05, 2010

Families can step out in the countryside in aid of the county’s Poppy Appeal on Sunday.

The Royal British Legion’s annual Poppy Appeal Walk offers a choice of either a five mile or 10 mile walk along The Ridgeway in Wiltshire and Buckinghamshire.

The Berkshire branch of the legion is appealing for local charities and community groups to take part in the sponsored walk to raise money for themselves, as well as the legion.

Joint sponsorship is being offered to outside groups, which means money raised will be split between the Poppy Appeal and the group taking part in the walk.

The Berkshire Royal British Legion, which is based in Arborfield, says groups have raised £1,000 for themselves at previous events.

People wanting to take part can also raise sponsorship money purely for the Poppy Appeal if they choose.

Spaces are limited.

Call Francesca Yates, community fundraiser, on (0118) 976 1551.
