Classic real ale and a real belter of a race meeting in one day.

After its success last year, Newbury is hosting its second Best of British Beer Festival to coincide with one of the flat season's most anticipated races on May 19.

The Group 1 JLT Lockinge Stakes will feature a line of stellar performers as part of the British Champion Series and with off track activities to match - the day is set to be one to remember.

Showcasing over 50 ales and ciders and complete with live music, the Beer Festival will add that extra bit of British to the raceday. It all kicks off at 11am, giving racegoers time to sample plenty of local and British tipples before the card of seven flat races gets underway.

Later on the winning jockey in the past two JLT Lockinge Stakes, Richard Hughes will be launching his new autobiography, signing copies and answering fans questions.

There will also be children's entertainment and free entries for under 18s, television coverage of what is scheduled to be a big day for British sport and much more to keep racegoers busy.
