A charity will be able to provide practical support to more carers thanks to a donation from Wokingham Freemasons.

The Downshire Lodge donated £1,500 to Crossroads Care which helps families across the borough caring for people of all ages and disabilities.

Bob Austen, chief executive of Crossroads Care, which is based at Wokingham Community Hospital, said: “This donation will help us in delivering our service to a wider section of the local population, bringing badly needed relief and support.

“We are very grateful to the Freemasons for their generosity and can assure them the money will be wisely spent in the service of the community.”

Les Taylor, of Downshire Lodge, which meets at Wokingham Masonic Centre in Reading Road, presented the cheque. He said: “The Berkshire Masonic Charity is heavily into giving to local charities to help them on their way and we were delighted to help Crossroads Care.”
