Rotarians enjoyed dinner, a talk and entertainment at their annual Five Clubs Dinner.

The Rotary Club of Crowthorne and Sandhurst welcomed the Rotary Clubs of Ascot, Bracknell, Easthampstead and Wokingham at Wellington College, in Dukes Ride, on Tuesday, February 19.

Chris Walder, of the Rotary Club of Crowthorne & Sandhurst, said: “It was an excellent evening and a wonderful opportunity for the five clubs to get together.”

“This year was only the second time the dinner has been hosted by a female president and the first time there have been two female presidents of local clubs attending.”

In her opening address, president Enid Halliwell said this was a reflection of the way society is changing as it used to be an almost exclusively male organisation.

After dinner Patrick Dow, 15, from Wellington College, and Ellie Bamber, 16, from Dukes Ride, Crowthorne, sang ‘All I ask of you’ from Phantom of the Opera.

The 80 Rotarians also heard from after dinner speaker Jane Lunnon, deputy head of Wellington College, who gave a talk on the use of humour in the English language.
