Jubilee oak tree planted in Wargrave

By Jon Nurse
February 26, 2013

An oak tree planted at Wargrave playing fields for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee has been blessed in a service by the village vicar.

The Rev Jon Drake, from St Mary’s Church, oversaw the service at Mumbery Field on Tuesday, February 5.

Robert Piggott CE Infant and Junior Schools were one of only three schools in the borough to be chosen to receive a jubilee oak, selecting Wargrave Parish Council land used for recreation by the schools.

Patriotic pupils were joined on the day by representatives from the schools, parish council, The Piggott Trust, and executive member for the environment Councillor Angus Ross.
