Plans drawn up for artificial pitch at Woodford Park in Woodley

By Jon Nurse
February 15, 2013

Plans have been drawn up for an artificial grass pitch to ease demand in Woodford Park.

Woodley Town Council’s leisure services committee commissioned £2,400 of scoping works for the pitch, which will be presented to funding agencies.

Phil Challis, leisure services committee chairman, said: “Having a pitch there would allow more flexibility. It could be used without becoming worn, more games wouldn’t be rained off and it would help with increasing demand which will come from more residents moving into Woodley.

“There’s been good support for a number of years and interested parties that we’re moving forward.”

The plan to replace a pitch near the lake behind Woodford Park Leisure Centre will be discussed at April’s committee meeting.
