A cancer care trust is enjoying a late Christmas present after a newsagent sold thousands of raffle tickets to boost its work.
Sukhvinder and Satnam Lola of Bean Oak Newsagent in Bean Oak Road handed a cheque for £200 to Pat Petchy from Wokingham District Cancer Care Trust after a successful festive collection.
Mrs Lola said: “Every year we like to have a Christmas raffle and we choose a different charity each time. We decided with our customers that the money should go to cancer care.
“We would like to thank all our generous customers for their support.”
The store was selling 20p raffle tickets in the run up to Christmas, offering restaurant prizes, bottles of wine and food hampers as alluring prizes.
