Golfers have helped raise more than £16,000 for a number of charities.
Bearwood Lakes Golf Club’s outgoing men’s and ladies’ captains, David Bosomworth and Sue Hampson, marked their departure by donating the cash.
Mr Bosomworth handed over £6,000 to The Eden Unit at Wexham Park Hospital, a ward specialising in the treatment of haematology-based cancers such as Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Mrs Hampson donated £5,300 to both Hounds for Heroes and Royal Berkshire Hospital, where the money will be put towards the purchasing of a Linac Accelerator for its cancer treatment centre.
Funds raised by the club are distributed by Libby’s Challenge Charity Committee, named after Maggie Paul’s daughter who died from breast cancer.
Mrs Hampson was joined by Mrs Paul and committee chairwoman Marjorie Macdonald to make the contribution to the hospital.
New captains Stephen Vincent and Susan Veary have promised follow on the impressive charitable work.
Mrs Veary will continue to support Hounds for Heroes in 2013, which provides assistance dogs to injured and disabled men and women of the UK armed forces and civilian emergency services.
Mr Vincent will raise money for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice, which funds two community paediatric palliative nurses who support families across Berkshire. The charity is also working towards building a children’s hospice in Berkshire.
A number of events have been lined up.
