100-day fitness challenge raise £1,500 for Kenyan schoolchildren

A 100-day fitness challenge has pushed Winnersh families to be more active and raised more than £1,500 for schoolchildren in Kenya.

The challenge, run by fitness instructor Heidi Strickland-Clark, encouraged participants to try daily tasks and give to charity in the last 100 days of 2012.

The group met on Sunday mornings at Bearwood Recreation Ground in Sindlesham.

Mrs Strickland-Clark, of Defford Close, said: “Each Sunday session has been amazingly well attended and our last session was a family affair. It was a great morning – nice and sunny and clear and a great way to raise money and get moving after the Christmas laziness.

“I know that this sum will easily feed school lunches to more than 40 children for 12 months, which is amazing.”

The scheme is supporting Wokingham-based charity Pass It On, which supports children in Kenya.
