A Woodley household is using Christmas decorations to help brighten up the lives of youngsters in hospital.

Brian Strong and his sister Susan decorate the outside of their home in Wheble Drive to raise money for the children’s ward at Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH).

Ms Strong said: “We started doing it between us about three years ago and then Brian said he wanted to collect money for the children’s ward because they had done a lot for his granddaughter.

“He buys one or two more decorations each year so it has built up each Christmas and looks quite spectacular now.”

Ms Strong said they have a lot of people stopping their cars to look at the lights and the couple raised £52 for the RBH last Christmas.

She said: “We were quite happy with the amount raised last year, but we’re hoping to get a bit more this year.”
