£900 raised at charity Christmas Tree sale

By Laura Herbert
December 21, 2012

Volunteers raised £900 for charity at a Christmas tree sale at Wildmoor Heath in Crowthorne.

The Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust sold trees, Christmas wreaths, cards and calendars from the heath’s car park on Saturday, December 8, and Sunday, December 9.

Martin Newman, a volunteer for the trust, said: "It was the most successful Christmas event we have ever held. We raised the most we have since the start of our records in early 2000.

"We had someone making Christmas wreaths on Sunday and that went really well. The money will go towards conservation work in the area."

Mr Newman put the success down to the change in location, as more walkers spotted the event as they entered the heathland through the car park.

Last year, the event was held towards the back of the Wildmoor complex down a dead-end road.
