Santa coming to visit the people of Woodley

Youngsters will be able to catch a glimpse of Santa when he makes a flurry of festive visits to the town in next month.

The Rotary Club of Loddon Vale will be on hand to help Santa navigate his sleigh through the streets.

Martin Boyles said: “We’ve been helping Santa to get out and about in Woodley since The Rotary Club of Loddon Vale was set up some 40 years ago. Last year we raised £9,000 and, although times are hard, we hope to raise the same amount this year.

“We love to get the children out and to see their faces light up when the float approaches.”

The float will be collecting for local good causes along the following roads and surrounding areas from 6pm to 8pm (weather permitting) on:

n Wednesday, December 5: Wheble Drive, Bruce Road, Howth Drive, Beechwood Avenue and Woodwaye area

n Thursday, December 6: Arundel Road, Caldbeck Drive, Wingate Road, Duncan Road, Fosters Lane

n Wednesday, December 12: Haddon Drive, Rochester Avenue

n Thursday, December 13: Antrim Road, Malone Road, Penrose

n Friday, December 14: Drovers Way, Southlake Crescent

n Monday, December 17: Coppice Road, Munro Avenue, Keats Road

n Tuesday, December 18: Reading Road, Wyndham Crescent, Western Avenue

Santa will also be visiting the following supermarkets from 10am to 4pm:

n Waitrose, Twyford, on December 7, 8 and 9

n Asda, Lower Earley, on December 10 and 11

n Sainsbury’s, Winnersh, on December 15 and 16

n Woodley precinct, on December 19
