More than 80 Scouts, Beavers and Cubs gave up their time to help pack bags at a supermarket to raise cash for their Scout hut.

The 1st Finchampstead Scout Group, helped by leaders, parents and siblings, managed to raise £1,300 by working two-hour shifts at the store in Finchampstead Road between 9am and 5pm on Saturday, November 17.

The money will help refurbish the Scout hut in California Country Park.

Sam Wood, from the Scout group, said: “We had a great response from our volunteers and the generosity of the Tesco customers was fantastic.

“It also taught our young people some valuable life skills, not only how to pack bags but also about helping others. Even people who didn’t want their bags packed often still made a donation.

“We would also like to thank all those at Tesco in Wokingham for allowing us to fundraise at their store.”
