By Karen JordanNovember 29, 2012
Three local charities are hundreds of pounds better off thanks to Rotary Club pedal power.
The Rotary Club of Loddon Vale Diamond Jubilee Cyclethon held in July raised more than £8,000.
Benefiting from the Rotarians’ cycling skills was The Alzheimer’s Society which received £5,000, and Bridges Resource Centre and Woodley Memorial Fund each receiving £1,500.
John Hammond, Peter Boon, Glen Rothwell, Stephen Hammond and Alex Ourie rode 922 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats, in 14 days.
The club covers Woodley, Sonning, Charvil, Twyford, Winnersh and parts of Earley and Lower Earley and meets at Sonning Golf Club in Duffield Road.
