Hurst Village Society donates 105 new saplings

By Jon Nurse
November 20, 2012

A village society has been donated 105 saplings to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Hawthorn, hazel, birch, rowan, blackthorn and oak trees have been planted in the Davis Street play area and the School Road playing field in Hurst as part of the Woodland Trust’s Jubilee Woods Project.

Hurst Village Society applied for the tree pack to enhance the neighbourhood.

They were planted by Hurst parish councillor Michael Holdstock, joining six million trees being planted across the country in the scheme.

The native species trees will mature in as little as 10 years.
