Hit new heights on Winnersh climbing challenge
By Jon NurseSeptember 21, 2012
Tough teens can tackle a new climbing challenge at Winnersh Recreation Ground.
Winnersh Parish Council has invested in its town’s youth with more than £16,000 of equipment at the rec in New Road.
A three-metre climbing wall has come at a cost of just over £11,000 while the council has also invested in a semi-circular shelter costing around £6,000.
Jill Plant, chairman of Winnersh Parish Council’s recreation and amenities committee, said: “The climbing wall is quite a challenge for our teenagers, standing quite high. They have to find their own foot and hand holes to find a way to the top.
“It looks very inviting. It’s unattended equipment that’s not suitable for young children.
“The new shelter is a place for them to talk with a little basketball court nearby.
“I’m really pleased with them and they look like a good investment.”
