By Jon Nurse
June 14, 2012

LIittle Olympians raced to victory at Barkham village’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations on Saturday.

Youngsters competed in egg and spoon, piggy back and sack races at a family fun afternoon at Barkham Village Hall and grounds.

Winners picked up gold, silver and bronze medals in different age categories.

The free afternoon had craft and cake competitions, different stalls from local businesses and more than a dozen classic cars on display from Barkham & District Classic Car Club.

Local resident Pat McCarthy was crowned Queen for the day by The Reverend Julian Bidgood from St James Church.

The afternoon was organised by BVRA and supported with a grant from Barkham Parish Council.

Villagers danced to tunes from the Mike Wells band in the evening at the village hall.
