Olympic flags will be flying high when schools, clubs and sports teams climb aboard floats for an Olympic and Diamond Jubilee-themed Woodley Carnival.
Organisers of the carnival have set the theme and are appealing for people to take part in the procession on foot if they cannot get hold of a vehicle.
Procession marshal Jane Batts said: “We are having a procession again this year and we would like this to be open to more people.
“We are encouraging people to take part in a walking float as this may be slightly easier to organise, as the lorries are becoming more difficult to get.”
Woodley Carnival is in its 52nd year and hundreds of people line the streets of the town to watch the procession.
But recent years have seen the number of floats drop.
Ms Batts said: “The Woodley Carnival committee is run by volunteers and we really do appreciate the work that is involved..”
Those wishing to take part with lorries, cars or trucks are still welcome to join in the fun and people are invited to bring along their own buckets to collect for their school or charity.
The carnival will take place in the Woodford Park Memorial Ground in Headley Road on Saturday, June 9.
Music and entertainment will start at 1pm with gates opening at midday.
Abba tribute band Platinum will headline on the main stage before a fireworks spectacular at 10.30pm.
