Burns Night welcomed back to Sonning

By Lewis Rudd
February 08, 2012

Music lovers were blown away by Bracknell and Wokingham Community Band during a fourth anniversary performance at a town centre church.

The band, which has more than 80 local amateur musicians among its ranks, performed popular classics, big band and pop numbers when it took to the stage at St Paul’s Church in Reading Road on Saturday, January 28.

The band decided to return to the church following a concert at the venue in March 2011, where more than £3,000 was raised to help purchase brass instruments and provide music tuition to orphaned, disabled and destitute children living at the Good Shepherd Home in the Mengo slum of Kampala in Uganda.

Who is the piper? He doesn't play for the local band, Reading Scottish.
