A FINCHAMPSTEAD church will be welcoming a new associate priest to the village in the spring.
The Reverend Mark-Aaron Tisdale formally accepted the post of associate priest of Finchampstead and California on Friday, January 20.
Reverend Julie Ramsbotton, rector for the parish, said: “We are hoping that the Tisdales will move into the vicarage at California mid-February and that Mark-Aaron will take up his post in March – the ministry team are very much looking forward to his arrival.”
Rev Tisdale will be moving to the area from Canterbury with his wife Cigil and his 11-year-old old son.
The reverend has been Chaplain of St Edmund’s School in Canterbury for a year before which he was rector of Clifton and Southill in the St Albans Diocese.
He will join Reverend Ramsbottom in overseeing the parish of Finchampstead and California, which came together as one parish last year.
St Mary and St John’s Church in Vicarage Close and St James’ Church in Church Lane joined in April last year when Reverend Ramsbottom took up her role.
Rev Ramsbottom, 57, was previously rector of West Woodhay with Enborne, Hamstead Marshall, Inkpen and Combe, and priest-in-charge of Kintbury with Avington.
