Ladies with style raise £1,700!

March 09, 2009

Strutting fundraisers helped gather a fashionable amount of money for charity when they hit the catwalk last week.

Members of The Inner Wheel Club of Reading Maiden Erlegh donned the latest outfits lining the rails of John Lewis when they held the fashion show at Reading’s Leighton Park School in Reading on Wednesday, February 18.

Members of the group, a female alternative to the Maiden Erlegh Rotary Club, each sampled four outfits, which reflected diverse occasions, from the popular high street chain – raising £1,700 in the process.

Money raised from the event will be donated to the Wheel’s chosen African charities, The Addis Ababas Fistula Hospital, and Mercy Ships.

Ann Turner, president of the club, said: “It was a great night made even more enjoyable in that we raised a substantial amount to help women immeasurably less fortunate than ourselves.”
