By Hugh Fort
February 19, 2009

TV chef Jamie Oliver has got people flocking to local butchers to buy cheap cuts of British pork.

Mr Oliver’s Jamie Saves Our Bacon show, screened last month, highlighted the poor husbandry practices used in pork farming across continental Europe and urged people to buy British.

Butchers in Wokinmgham have reported an increase in sales of pork.

David Jennings, owner of P & D Jennings in Hurst, said he had been inundated with demand for certain cuts of pork.

Graham Adams, owner of Lockey Farm in Sindlesham Road, Arborfield, said: “After the programme in January we actually sold out of pork belly and shoulder, which I don’t think we have ever done.

“The power of these sort of programmes is phenomenal, we saw a similar thing when Jamie Oliver did a programme on shoulder of lamb."
