Beer delivery is first past the post at Ascot
September 26, 2008
Three days of racing, real ale and family fun is almost here again with the return of the Ascot Festival.
The triple event, this weekend, will give people the chance to enjoy some first-class racing washed down with 130 different types of independent beers, perries and ciders.
After all that, there will be an Autumn Family Day on Sunday when young and old can take part in arts activities.
John Blake, head of sales and marketing at Ascot, said: “We are delighted to host the Beer Festival for the second consecutive year.
“The racecourse is a far cry from many indoor beer festivals, providing a unique backdrop in which to sample some of the world’s finest beers.”
Last year’s Beer of the Festival, as voted for by the racegoers, Summer Lightning will be back on the menu and trying to keep its title.
Sue Thirlaway, CAMRA Campaign for Real Ale branch chairman, said: “Following the success of the first Ascot Beer Festival, CAMRA are delighted to be invited back to Ascot Racecourse.
“This is an excellent opportunity for us to introduce the enormous variety of beers available from independent brewers to an audience who wouldn’t usually attend a beer festival.”
Tickets start from £15 per person. Group discounts are available and under-16s go free.
