A TAX expert at an Aldermaston accountancy firm is demonstrating fighting spirit in and out of work.

Accountant Lavinia Gater, of Ashley Doggett & Co in Calleva Park, follows a day's work with a two-hour tai chi class.

Ms Gater took up self-defence after being followed and, in a separate incident, run off the road in her car.

She now spends around 10 hours a week practicing at the White Dragon Chinese Martial Arts Centre at New Greenham Park, where she is also an instructor.

She said: "It has given me a self-defence but also had health benefits."
