March 04, 2013
Young people and their parents can find out about apprenticeships and training opportunities at a fair on Monday.
The Wokingham Apprenticeship and Training Fair takes place at the Civic Offices, in Shute End, from 5pm to 7.30pm.
Young people will be able to meet employers to ask about the jobs they could do and the skills they need to obtain.
The free event will feature employers including Microsoft, British Airways, AWE, National Grid, Foster Wheeler, Cable and Wireless, BMW, Gillette and Cisco.
Charlotte Haitham Taylor, Wokingham Borough Council’s executive member for children’s services, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to meet with local and national employers and training providers. They will be able to find out about the variety of routes into employment and the type of skills and aptitudes needed for different job roles.”
There will be talks in the council chamber to explain what an apprenticeship entails.
For more information or to book a stand at the event, call Gill Waller on 07580 108147 or email GWaller@emmbrook.wokingham.sch.uk.
