Hilton Reading cheques in charity donation
June 28, 2012
The charity building Berkshire’s first hospice for children has received a £750 boost from the Hilton Reading.
The Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service, which also funds nurses to support families at home, is the hotel’s charity of the year.
New general manager Stephane Weit handed over the latest gift to Julia Philipson, the charity’s fundraising administrator.
She said: “We were absolutely delighted to receive the cheque, it makes a huge difference with everything we are doing.
“To be going forward with Hilton Reading, after they have chosen us as their charity of the year, is a massive privilege.”
Staff at the hotel took part in an Around the World in a Day event last month, when Hilton employees across Europe walked, ran or cycled more than 40,000km – the earth’s circumference – between them.
The fundraisers stepped out under the banner of the Hilton in the Community Foundation, the hotel chain’s charity, and the Reading crew clocked up a sponsored 205km to keep the pot topped up for good causes.
