Fabulous bid for Big Wigs ChallengeBy Sally Bryant

A carpet cleaning company is going to stretch £50 as far as it can to help the Sue Ryder Nettlebed Hospice.
Absolutely Fabulous, of Westwood Road in Tilehurst, has picked up the gauntlet in the fourth Big Wigs Challenge.
The annual competition asks companies and individuals to pit their wits, innovation and business acumen against one another.
Each will be given a £50 start-up investment on Saturday, October 1, and will then have four months to make it bring as high a return as possible.
Absolutely Fabulous director Darren Curtis said: “I knew we wanted to be part of the Big Wigs Challenge as soon as I heard about it.
“As the owner of a successful local business it’s nice to be able to contribute to a charity which does so much to help local people when they need it most.”
The cause is now even more important to Mr Curtis – since signing up, he has discovered Sue Ryder Nettlebed supported his uncle and his family through his aunt’s final days, allowing her to stay at home as she had wished.
Mr Curtis’s sons Danny and Bailey are now putting their minds to making that £50 run and run – and you can still join in, if you think you could do better.
Emily King, Sue Ryder corporate fundraiser, said: “It is not too late to sign up to the challenge. We are still looking for teams and individuals across Berks, Bucks and Oxon to put their entrepreneurial skills to the test and raise as much as they can by using a £50 note.
“By taking part local people can help us continue to make a real difference to the lives of those with life-limiting illnesses.”
