All welcome at Green Park Sport Relief triathlon
By Paul RobinsMarch 24, 2010
Sporty staff at Green Park will splash, peddle and pound their way to a tidy sum in a charity triathlon for Sport Relief tomorrow.
The challenge will include an 800 metre swim at Nuffield Health Pool, a 14km cycle through the business park and finish with a 4km run.
So far 31 teams have registered and £7,535 has been collected and pledged.
Symantec triathletes The Young The Old And The Ancient have raised an impressive £745 alone.
Businesses enter teams of three – with one person taking each leg of the inter-company challenge.
The competition is divided into three levels – novice, intermediate and expert.
The first race will start at 11am and there will be a prize giving and after event BBQ and party at 5.30pm.
There will also be live entertainment courtesy of Steve Daniels of The Undercover Band.
Proceeds from the BBQ and party will go towards the Sport Relief fund.
Organiser Nigel Townley, engineering director at Cisco, said: “Last year we did an indoor triathlon using video games which got good support, so this year we wanted to do something again – with real sports.
“Another objective is to improve the community spirit at Green Park by doing something together.”
