BaxterStorey bite through crunch

February 04, 2010

The recession has failed to quell the appetite of Reading catering firm BaxterStorey with trading up 10 per cent last year.

The contract caterer, with headquarters at Thames Valley Park, revealed revenues hit £216 million.

Its Irish division enjoyed particular success with income up 122 per cent, while deli operator Benugo, acquired by parent company WSH in November 2007, saw turnover increase to £26 million.

Chairman Alastair Storey said: “2009 was an incredibly challenging year which saw our key business and industry market contract.

“Despite this BaxterStorey has had another strong year, generating record new business sales of £50m resulting in an £8 million increased turnover on 2008. The bedrock for our success is rooted in the attention paid to what sets us apart – fantastic food and service.”

The company provides catering solutions for more than 250 clients including Barclays and The Oracle.
