Fujitsu strike called off

By Hugh Fort
February 04, 2010

Strike action at a Bracknell IT firm has been called off as talks to save 42 jobs continue.

Members of the Unite union at Fujitsu in Lovelace Road have cancelled the proposed strike tomorrow because the union is in talks with the company trying to halt the last round of redundancies.

Representatives have until the end of the week to try to find an alternative to the cuts or the staff will leave tomorrow.

If the talks fail and the staff leave, a strike planned for Monday will still go ahead.

Staff at the firm have been taking strike action over a long-running dispute over job cuts and a plan to change the company pension scheme members say will leave staff 20 per cent worse off.
