3M staff brush up on community work

December 02, 2009

Volunteers at 3M have been out and about in the community to help a Great Hollands school paint its playground.

Staff from the firm in Cain Road, Bracknell, went to Great Hollands Primary School in Wordsworth and spent the day painting a zebra crossing and lines around the play area for the youngsters to ride their trikes around.

They also painted a trail of high visibility footprints, marked an area as a skittles alley, prepared a patch of ground for ‘bug-finding’ and made a ‘storytime seats’ out of logs.

Deputy headteacher Richard Ferris said: “The improvements they made are excellent. They will make a real difference to our foundation stage outdoor environment and have a constructive impact on the children’s learning.

“We can’t thank the volunteers enough for all their effort.”

The staff were taking part in the company’s 3M 4Good programme, which gives every employee the chance to do a day’s work for the local community.
