Small firms fighting the recession... slowly
November 30, 2009
A new survey shows small businesses are slowly fighting their way out of the recession.
The survey has been conducted by staff at www.uSwitchforBusiness.com and shows 42 per cent of the small to medium sized businesses are seeing some signs of economic recovery.
And the survey also shows just one per cent of the businesses say signs of recovery are strong.
It also reveals 27 per cent of business owners predict six months to a year for their business to recover, but 26 per cent say more than a year.
Other findings are that 81 per cent of business say they will survive the recession, an increase of 76 per cent in the first quarter of the year.
Richard Knight, who owns advertising firm Focal Point and is vice-chairman of the East Berkshire Branch of the Federation for Small Businesses, said: “You have to be careful.
“I read something saying ‘the recession’s over’ the other day, of course it isn’t but you have to keep going.
“You will find the businesses who are positive and forward thinking will get out of it quicker than those who are negative.”
