Council speeds up payments to firms

Fast payment for business services is in action after Bracknell Forest Council was accredited to the Prompt Payment Code.
The code commits the authority to paying suppliers on time, gives clear guidance in council payment procedures and dealing with complaints, and encourages good business by asking companies to adopt the code themselves.
The measure means suppliers can choose to be paid by the Government’s Procurement Card if they are ‘visa enabled’ which means they get paid within four working days.
The payment method is being offered to businesses in Berkshire to help relieve cash flow problems for small and medium sized businesses.
