With the credit crunch biting Wokingham Borough Council has opted to lend its support to small businesses.

At a meeting last Thursday leader Cllr David Lee put forward a motion suggesting the council helps local businesses.

It was decided actions should be carried out to help Wokingham borough’s economy including encouraging companies to apply for small business rate relief if they are eligible and urging larger organisations to pay small firms promptly, ideally within 20 days.

The recommendations will be considered at a meeting next month.
